‘So tell me why they’re better then,’ I asked the man behind the counter. They’re greasy and sticky – like eating really messy jam and toast (and I never eat jam on toast) but as I was standing in front of about 35 of them it seemed rude not to look.Īnd there on the stall was the magic word ‘Banoffee’ and next to it, were round doughy balls of toffee and banana cream-filled goodness. To be honest, I didn’t read it at the time. A day or so ago I’d seen something in the Daily Mail about a new lower fat doughnut. I admit, the name was ringing bells in my head. The Dum Dum donuts lower-fat doughnut has arrived. Any minute I was expecting a unicorn or a flurry of pixies with shopping bags to run past. Today I went down an escalator and entered a magical world – okay so it was the ground floor of the Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, but it was still magical because was within it was a stall selling ‘reduced in fat’ doughnuts.
